London, Ontario, there’s a mural honoring Johnny Cash and June Carter, and it ties directly to a major moment in their love story.
Here’s the deal:
🎤 In 1968, at the London Gardens (now gone), Johnny Cash proposed to June Carter live on stage.
She said yes — and it became one of the most legendary proposals in music history.
To mark that moment, a mural was painted in 2019 by artist Kevin Ledo on the side of the building at 425 Clarence Street, downtown London. It shows Johnny and June in rich, vintage tones, styled after classic tour photos. It’s part of the city’s “London Music History Mural Project,” which also celebrates other iconic performers connected to the city.
London, Ontario isn’t just a stop on a tour. It’s where Johnny finally got the “yes” from June. The mural is there to make sure no one forgets.
