This time I didn’t just snap the stick — I destroyed it. Out at the park, the showdown started with cracks echoing through the trees and ended with me stomping it into splinters. By the time I was finished, there wasn’t a stick left standing — just shards scattered on the ground.

Randy Rhoads’ Dee isn’t just a short guitar piece — it’s a masterclass in touch, feel, and control. It’s layered with classical influence, shifting chord shapes, and subtle movements that only sound “easy” until you sit down to actually play it. I walked into the studio planning on a quick test recording in my studio, hit record, and went for it. One take, no retakes, just me and the guitar trying to keep up with Randy’s brilliance.

Playing Dee raw like this is both humbling and inspiring. Every shift up the neck, every harmonic, every little pause carries weight. You don’t have room to hide in a one-take performance — every slip, every imperfection becomes part of the piece. That vulnerability is what makes it real. It reminds me that even the most delicate-sounding compositions demand precision, patience, and heart.

This wasn’t about perfect execution — nobody can outshine Randy Rhoads. It was about honoring his legacy and letting the music speak in the moment. Ever wondered what happens when Johnny goes full Transformer… with a stick?

I went to the park expecting just another walk… but my brain had other plans. The second my boots hit the grass, it felt like I’d spawned into a level. Birds chirping? Ambient soundtrack. Leaves crunching? Footstep SFX. Suddenly, this wasn’t London, Ontario anymore — it was Stage One.

Then I found it: the perfect stick. Not just a branch — Straight-up tree boss beater. I picked it up like the game just flashed “NEW WEAPON ACQUIRED” on screen. That weight in my hands, the balance… yeah, I was in character now.

I took aim at a tree, locked on like it was a boss fight, and launched the stick. The sound FX hit — thunk! — pure arcade satisfaction. If you closed your eyes, you’d swear it was ripped straight from an old cartridge game. The park wasn’t a park anymore. It was my arena.

By the time I left, I wasn’t thinking about paths or benches or real life. I was in that game zone where everything feels possible. The stick respawned, the level reset, and I walked away ready for the next round. Game over? Not even close.
